We love to co sleep and have no desire to put baby in crib. There must be someone out there who has figured this out….what do you do? We have put the mattress on the floor so there will be no falling off the bed. Any other suggestions?

Put it in a play pin
well, it’s not safe to sleep that way because you could roll over on it. You’re supposed to sleep with it in a crib, so you don’t suffocate him/her. That’s why cribs were built.
I don’t have a child and even I know that.
Close the bedroom door.
Every night before bed just make sure there’s nothing dangerous on the floor, you probably know that they don’t miss a trick!
Just child proof your room and you will be fine.
First of all co-sleeping is very safe for the child if done correctly. If done correctly it actually reduces the chances of SIDS.
Here are some tips:
Make sure the baby does not sleep in the middle. Baby should be on the edge and next to the mother.
I’m sure you know to avoid big blankets and pillows next to the baby.
You will know if the baby wakes up and crawls away….lol…kind of mother’s intuition.
I don’t think there is really much more advice. Just keep doing what you’ve been doing and much sure you co sleep in a safe way.
My daughter is 2.5 and still co sleeps we love it!
The first two answers sucked. click on the link below so you can be better educated about sleep sharing. and if you don’t have kids you shouldn’t answer this question. But I think co-sleeping is wonderful. my son is almost 3 months old and i love it. rolling over on baby is as likely t o happen as rolling off the bed. only parents who are under the influence of drugs and alcohol shouldn’t co sleep. studies also show that co sleeping actually reduces the chance of sids. As far as sleeping with a seven month old, i would say just fill in any gaps with blankets or towels and make sure that the baby is between you and the wall. again, be sure there is no gap between the bed and the wall.
you will be fine. you will wake up if baby starts to get up
My baby began crawling at 10 months and we got gates for our bed so that she could not fall out while she was there by herself. Since you have put the bed on the floor I wouldn’t worry about it too much.
I found that the crawling was only and issue when we weren’t in bed yet because she would wake up and come looking for us. When we are in bed she really doesn’t move much.
Best of luck
We pushed our bed up against the wall and my husband slept against the wall. On the other side (my side) we put this bed rail http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-Secure-Lock-Rail/dp/B0000E0JDV so our son couldn’t roll off. We also taught him how to safely slide off the bed feet first.
We now use this: http://www.amazon.com/Humanity-Family-Bed-Sleeping-Pad/dp/B000LTN72S
